No corners, so no hot spots

Corners concentrate light and throw bright edges. A dome has none, so the brightness falls away gradually from the crown down to the base and the lamp reads as one soft mass rather than a lit object with hard lines on it.

Every dome is cut from different rock, so the veining and the exact shade of yours will not match these photographs precisely. That is worth saying out loud, because it is the thing people are most often disappointed by when they buy salt online.
