It has to come out of one block

Is it dimmable? What bulb does it use?
Yes. There is an inline rotary dimmer on the cord: a round knob you turn, not a click switch, so you can stop anywhere between a faint ember and a bright warm glow. A small tubular incandescent bulb is in the box together with the holder it screws into: squeeze the two clips on the holder and push it up inside the crystal, about a minute and no tools. The socket takes up to 40W. Spare bulbs cost a few dollars at any hardware store.
Is it safe around kids and pets, and can I leave it on overnight?
It is an ordinary 40W bulb sitting inside a solid rock on a wooden base. The crystal gets warm to the touch the way a lamp shade does, not hot. Two sensible precautions: it is heavy, so set it where it cannot be knocked off an edge, and keep the cord tucked out of reach of a puppy that chews. Leaving it on through the evening and overnight is fine. Unplug it when you go away for a while, the same as you would with any lamp. If a pet takes an interest in licking the salt, move the lamp somewhere out of reach.
Why does my lamp feel damp?
Salt draws moisture out of the air, so in a humid room the surface can feel damp or leave a little residue. Running the lamp regularly is the fix: the gentle warmth of the bulb keeps the surface dry. Stand it on a protected surface and wipe it with a dry cloth if you need to. Do not use liquid cleaners.
