Your evenings, under one hard ceiling light
Most rooms have one setting after dark. The big light, on. It is flat. It is bright. It makes 9pm feel like an office.
Switch this on instead. Turn the dial down. Broken orange light comes up through the chunks and across the wall. The room stops being lit and starts glowing.
Nothing burns. No flame. No smoke. No wax. Nothing to put out before bed.
Watch it turn
Our own footage of the piece we ship. Every side, lit. Most salt bowls are sold on one photo, from the best angle, in a dark room. This is the whole way round.
Two kinds of light from one bulb
The bowl is one carved piece. Its wall glows like a solid salt lamp: a single warm surface, veining showing through.
The chunks do the opposite. They are broken, not cut. Every face catches the light and throws it back hard. Steady glow underneath. Broken sparkle on top.
The chunks lift out. Pile them differently and the pattern on your wall changes. Nothing is glued down.
The same bowl, bright room and dark
Left: a bright room. Right: the same bowl, same bulb, in a dark one. Salt lamps are almost always shot in the dark. That is why so many arrive paler than people expected. Both photos are ours.
Yours will not match either one exactly. Every bowl is carved from different rock. Every chunk is broken, not cut. Colour, veining and the way the pile sits all vary.
How big it actually is
16 cm across. 11 cm tall. That is 6.3 by 4.3 inches, on a 2 cm base. It weighs 2.96 kg, about 6.5 lb, and 800 g of that is the chunks. About the size of a large grapefruit, and heavier in the hand than it looks.
Real carved salt, 16 cm across, 2.96 kg.
Add to cart, $64.97Where people put it
- Beside the sofaOn a side table at knee height, so the light comes up rather than down.
- On a bedroom dresserTurn the dial low and leave it on while you wind down.
- On a deskWarm light next to a cold screen, for working after dark.
- On a shelf or a hall tableOne warm point of light in a space that usually has none.
One place to avoid: bathrooms. Salt pulls moisture out of the air, and a steamy room is the one thing it does not like.
What comes in the box

You screw the bulb in. About a minute, no tools.
The numbers
Measured off the actual pieces. Salt is cut from natural rock, so treat these as close, not exact.
Why it costs more than a thirty dollar salt lamp
- Carved, not assembledOne piece of salt, hollowed out, so the wall itself glows. A wire basket holding chunks is cheaper to make and has no lit surface of its own.
- 800 g of chunks includedCounted inside the 2.96 kg. Not a smaller handful, and not sold separately.
- Bulb and dimmer in the boxYou are not ordering a cord afterwards to make it work.
- Photographed lit and in daylightBy us, on the piece we ship. No renders. No borrowed supplier art.
The same bowl, without the sales pitch
Bowls this shape are usually sold as wellness equipment, with claims about air and health attached, often at a good deal more than this. We make none of those claims. It is a lamp. A carved piece of salt, 800 g of chunks, a warm bulb and a dial. What it does is glow.
What people worry about
It will look nothing like the photo.
It will not look identical. No two are. That is why we show you a bright room and a dark one instead of one flattering shot. What is constant: real carved salt, 16 cm across, 2.96 kg on the scale.
What happens when the bulb goes?
Lift the chunks out and the bulb is right there. One comes in the box. Message us before you buy a spare and we will confirm the size for your piece.
Salt lamps sweat.
They can, in a humid room. Leaving it switched on keeps it dry. Stand it on a coaster or a mat. Keep it out of the bathroom.
It is going to be smaller than I think.
16 cm across and 2.96 kg. There is a scale drawing further up this page, against a sheet of US Letter paper, so you can judge it before you order.
How do I clean it?
A dry cloth. Never water, because salt dissolves. The chunks lift straight out if you want to get underneath them.
